What PestBrief tracks
Data methodology
Operator universe. PestBrief starts with the complete Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) structural pest control licensee database — every company licensed to operate under NAICS 561710 in Texas. This is the authoritative source for operator identity and license status.
Revenue estimation. Revenue is estimated using a technician-productivity model calibrated to disclosed M&A deal data. Inputs include licensed technician count, vehicle fleet signals (commercial insurance filings), and Google Business Profile data. Accuracy is ±20% for operators with 5+ technicians; ±35% for smaller operators.
M&A signal detection. PestBrief monitors UCC filings, SBA loan activity, trade name changes, license transfers, and industry press for indicators of acquisition activity. Confirmed deals are tagged with buyer, approximate price, and deal structure when available.
Update cadence. Operator records are refreshed monthly from TDA licensing updates. M&A signals are monitored weekly. Deal pricing is updated when confirmed through public sources or direct confirmation.
